EARLY EDUCATION NEWS

At Calvary Lutheran Early Education Centers, we are committed to Jesus’ teaching: “Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” (John 13:34-35)  Therefore, we endeavor to create a safe, caring environment where we can share God’s love and provide developmentally appropriate activities so that children may grow spiritually, physically, emotionally, cognitively, and socially.

“Seeking to serve with our hands and love with our hearts.”

What a pleasure it was to have the opportunity to share a vision of connecting the congregation with the Early Education center at the LWML assembly last month. As a part of the National Lutheran School Accreditation Process we shared several ideas for connecting the Early Education Center with the ladies of the congregation. From this social connection we had two interested women step forward to share in crafting with Preschool 4 and another who will be the adopted “grandma” to Preschool 3. We are looking forward to developing these relationships! If anyone else would like to consider being an adoptive grandparent or if you have a special interest to share with the children such as a craft, art, read a story, gardening or wish to just cut out etc. please contact the center. This is not a commitment that consumes allot of one’s time and is very rewarding!

Continued from last week:
What do you do when you have 138 children sitting for over an hour in the auditorium when there is a real threat of a tornado? Once the children are in their safe location in the downstairs auditorium you answer lots of questions; talk about keeping them physically safe; assure them they are safe and in God’s care; read stories, keep shielding mats handy; and in the event that it is lunch time you feed hungry children the best and safest way you can. This was the case when we all experienced the real threat of a tornado May 25. We did have a few parents join us both to be in a safe place for themselves and to help out in this situation. Pastor B commended all three campuses for a job well done.
